| VCS: Why You Will Love it |
|
VCS is based on the Valentina 3.x kernel architecture
- the fruit of kernel optimization for operational speed since 1998. Based
on its unique architecture, you can also optimize your solutions by creating
fewer and much smaller tables compared to other servers.
|
| So It's Very Fast. What Else? |
|
VCS is an advanced SQL database server (SQL 92 + SQL 2003 extensions) including
support for: Triggers, Stored Procedures, Views, User Variables and more.
In addition, Unicode, XML import/export, Hot Back Up and Event Scheduling.
Plus you get access to special Valentina features like binary links and modern,
object-relational design (without forcing you into a particular design pattern).

| Porting PHP Apps from mySQL to Valentina? |
|
Valentina PHP module was designed to be as close as possible to the mySQL
implementation to make porting your apps a snap. Start with a simple find/replace
of the "mysql_" prefix to "val_" in your code.
|
| Anybody Have a Successful Port from mySQL? |
VDN solution provider Thorsten Hohage of objectmanufactur developed an EOF-like
database framework that was originally based around mySQL. Mr Hohage reports
that he ported the solution to Valentina in less than four hours. Now large
SELECT statements that ran upwards of five minutes take less than five seconds
under Valentina 3.
"The advancements culminating in Valentina 3 make Valentina
a worthy successor to mySQL projects that require better performance for complex
queries. I am profoundly happy over our move to Valentina." said Thorsten Hohage.
